 French Polishing Service

banner showing 9 old wood working tools

To lovers of fine furniture the world over, French polish remains one of the most elegant of finishes.  Because of it's organic nature, the bumps and knocks of time can often be repaired and the polish revived without the need to completely remove and refinish, so saving the wonderful patina associated with antique furniture.

At our furniture restoration workshops we offer a French polishing service that ranges from the careful conservation, cleaning and reviving of antique furniture, to the complete stripping and re-polishing of an item when necessary.

Since the 1940s most commercially made furniture has been finished with spray lacquers, typically pre-catalyzed cellulose. As a protective finish it out performs traditional French polish by being much harder and more resilient. Unfortunately this resilience makes it harder to repair ring marks and scratches that can occur over time.

Sometimes there is no alternative to a complete re-finish but under those circumstances we offer a very competitively priced service

We can collect and deliver throughout Northamptonshire and the adjoining counties within a radius of thirty five  miles of Kettering.
