Repair, Restoration and Conservation

banner showing 9 old wood working tools

At our furniture restoration workshops we are a small team of highly skilled and experianced specialist wood workers offering our customers a wide range of skills.

Versed in the repair and restoration of furniture from all periods we bring the same skill and commitment to a modern piece of furniture as we do when working with an 18th century antique .

Because every item of furniture presents with it's own unique problems it is impossible to list here all that we see for repair . Some items that come to us have just a small unsightly scratch to repair while others may come to us in a multitude of pieces needing a complete re-build.

Listed below are just a few of the common jobs we carry out regularly. We are always pleased to discuss your particular needs and give advise. Shown on our gallery page you can veiw recently completed jobs. We try to keep this page updated weekly.

We are always pleased to give a quotation whatever size the job.

A good part of our work is accidental damage repair where the customer is making a claim through an insurance company. We are experianced in writing reports if required and presenting a fixed quotation

Below is an example of our  work

photograph of damaged antique mahogany fireplaceThis mahogany fire surround with overmantle is typical of the insurance repair work we carry out. It was badly damaged by a candle that left deep burns in the shelf and back panel. The heat also cracked the bevelled mirror.

photograph of repaired antique mahogany fireplaceAfter taking it to our workshops we made a new back panel and shelf. Once fitted, these were coloured and finished to match the original mahogany. A new mirror was ordered and fitted. When refitted in the customers house there were no signs whatsoever that the damage had occured.
